whittlz lands cover of NY Press, says ‘omg’ about a thousand times

Well, this is exciting. Through no fault of my own, I seem to have scored a photo on the cover of this week’s NY Press. Got a nice note from their photo editor, who found the shot via Flickr — the internets can make your dreams come true! — and the next thing I knew, I was an internationally famous rock n’ roll photographer. Did this make my life worth living for just a little longer? Yes. Yes it did.

Want to see more of what I can (apparently) do? Visit my photography page, or check me out on Flickr.

Since I am incapable of figuring out a proper purpose for this vanity blog — vanity not being my strong suit — I’ve decided to try an experiment in cloud thinking or whatever. So the floor is open. What do you, Former Time Magazine Person Of The Year, think I should do with this space? Read the rest of this entry »

do I want to take your headshot?

I took headshots for my sister over Christmas break, and I thought they turned out fairly well. (I’ve been shooting rock shows for several years now, but this is the first time I’ve tried to capture someone purposefully standing still.) A couple months ago, my friend Sarah asked if I’d like to help her take headshots for the writers selected as Emerging Voices of 2010 at her place of employment, PEN Center USA. Again: not horrible.

Do I want to take headshots professionally? Not sure. Probably not. But if you’d like me to take pictures of anything for you, I’d be happy to. I work cheap. I don’t suck. And it makes me happy, which is something I’m really into being lately. My contact info can be found on this site’s photography page.
